Malawi Portage Email Donate Help children like Kennedy achieve their full potential In Malawi, Kennedy dreams of being able to walk and to play freely with his friends. But having contracted yellow fever as a baby, he has since struggled to meet key developmental milestones. That’s why the SJOG Portage Programme is so important to him. It works on the basis that a child’s first teacher is in the home and so parents and guardians are at the heart of it. The programme provides vital equipment and trains family members to deliver required therapies at home, while physiotherapists and other healthcare workers visit regularly to monitor progress and adjust the exercises. But without your support, the funds needed to continue this vital programme will run out. And tragically there’s no alternative. If the portage programme stops running, these children are all out of options. Donate Now In the two areas where the programme runs, there are 12,262 pre-school aged children with physical and intellectual disabilities. We hope to reach 8,374 of them with portage programme – that’s more than half! Through the portage programme, Kennedy received a walking frame and knee, ankle and foot orthoses. Thanks to those devices, his leg muscles are getting stronger and his feet straighter. As you’ll see from the picture above, he practices his walking with his aunt Annie most days, while his parents are at work. Your support can ensure more children like Kennedy receive the therapies they so desperately need. Donate Now Manage Cookie Preferences
