Tax Efficient Giving

TAX EFFICIENT GIVING

Donations to a charity are tax efficient if you donate €250 or more in one calendar year. By reclaiming tax on your donation we can increase it by an extra 45% at no extra cost to you!

A new “blended” rate of 31% will be applied to all donations of €250 and more regardless of the donor’s actual tax rate, thus valuing all donations from the public equally.

HOW DOES TAX EFFICIENT GIVING WORK?

For example, Joan makes a cash donation of €1,000 to Saint John of God in the tax year 2017. Under the Tax Relief Scheme the Saint John of God is deemed to have received a donation of €1,449.27 (i.e. €1,000 grossed up at 31%) less tax deducted of €449.27.On the assumption that Joan has paid income tax for 2014 of at least €449.27, Saint John of God can obtain a refund of that amount from Revenue after the end of the tax year 2017 – at no extra cost to you!.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

It couldn’t be easier, all you need is to enter your PPS number, Sign and Date the attached CHY3 Enduring Certificate and return it using the enclosed pre-paid envelop. This will enable Saint John of God to reclaim the tax. This form is valid for 5 years so if you make another tax efficient donation to us during this period, you don't have to worry about completing another form for us. Further information can be found at www.revenue.ie or by calling the Saint John of God Foundation.

If you wish for us to send you out a form with a free post return envelope please email us at [email protected] with your name, address and preferred form.

GIFT AID

If you are one of our kind Northern Ireland donors you can ensure that your donation is tax efficient through Gift Aid. Donating through Gift Aid means that charities like us can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. It will not cost you any extra. The Gift Aid form can be downloaded above if you have not already signed a declaration.  Alternatively email us at [email protected] and we will send you out a form and prepaid envelope.
